NAD+: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
DEFINING NAD+
NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is an essential pyridine nucleotide found in every living cell. It functions as a redox coenzyme, cycling between its oxidized (NAD+) and reduced (NADH) forms to drive mitochondrial ATP production through glycolysis, the TCA cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation.
Beyond energy metabolism, NAD+ is a required substrate for several enzyme families — including sirtuins, PARPs, and CD38/CD157. These systems govern DNA repair, chromatin remodeling, calcium signaling, mitochondrial biogenesis, and cellular stress responses. Together, these pathways maintain genomic stability, support mitochondrial functioning, and modulate the molecular processes associated with aging and cellular resilience.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY VISIT
Your visit is designed to be efficient, comfortable, and medically guided from start to finish.
- COMPLETE CONSENT FORMS- Upon arrival you'll complete a one-time consent form that gives IV MD, LLC and its staff permission to treat you. This form covers IV hydration therapy, IM injections, and oxygen services.
- MEDICAL CONSULTATION- One of our licensed providers will conduct a short medical consultation- required on your first visit and once per calendar year thereafter. This $30 consultation reviews your medical history and current medications to confirm that IV hydration is safe and appropriate for you.
- VITAL SIGNS- After your consultation, a nurse will take your vital signs to establish a baseline and ensure IV hydration therapy is safe and appropriate for you.
- IV PLACEMENT- A nurse will place a small IV catheter into a vein. The needle is used only to guide the catheter and is removed immediately, leaving a soft, flexible tube in place for your infusion.
- NAD+ BAG PREPARATION- You'll relax in a comfortable recliner while your nurse mixes your IV bag based on your provider's recommendations. Each bag is prepared at the time of your visit to ensure accuracy and safety.
- INFUSION- Once prepared, your NAD+ is connected to your IV and the infusion begins. NAD+ is infused slowly, and most people tolerate it well. Some individuals may feel sensations like warmth, tightness, or mild nausea if the infusion runs too quickly — which is why your nurse adjusts the rate to keep you comfortable. Any effects typically ease once the infusion slows or pauses. Your nurse monitors you throughout the session to ensure you feel supported.
- POST INFUSION VITAL SIGNS- When your infusion is complete, a nurse will take a final set of vital signs to confirm your body has responded appropriately to treatment.
- IV REMOVAL- A nurse will remove your IV catheter and apply gauze with Coban to create a pressure dressing. This dressing should remain in place for 20-30 minutes to stop any bleeding and help prevent bruising.
- CHECKOUT- You'll checkout and complete payment at the front desk to finish your visit.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS NAD+ SAFE? YES. NAD+ is a molecule your body already uses every day to support energy production and cellular function.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR NAD+ THERAPY? People who are looking for support with energy, clarity, recovery, or overall wellness often explore NAD+ therapy. It may be a good fit for individuals who feel run‑down, want support for mental focus, or are interested in maintaining healthy cellular function as part of their wellness routine.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS? NAD+ is infused slowly, and most people tolerate it well. Some individuals may feel sensations like warmth, tightness, or mild nausea if the infusion runs too quickly — which is why your nurse adjusts the rate to keep you comfortable. Any effects typically ease once the infusion slows or pauses. Your nurse monitors you throughout the session to ensure you feel supported.
HOW MIGHT I FEEL AFTER THE INFUSION? Many people describe feeling refreshed, clear‑headed, and more balanced after their NAD+ session. For some, the effects feel subtle and build gradually throughout the day. Everyone responds differently, and your experience may vary based on your wellness goals and how your body processes the infusion.
HOW LONG DOES THE INFUSION TAKE? NAD+ is infused much more slowly than standard IVs. Depending on the dose and your comfort level, sessions can range anywhere from 1 to 8 hours. Because NAD+ can create sensations if it runs too quickly, your provider adjusts the drip rate throughout your visit to keep you comfortable. You’ll be able to relax the entire time.
DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT? YES. NAD+ infusions require a scheduled appointment because they can take several hours, and we need to ensure there’s enough time to complete your infusion. Booking ahead lets us reserve a dedicated block for your session so you’re not rushed and your infusion can run at a comfortable pace.
DO I NEED LABS OR A MEDICAL EVALUATION BEFORE TREATMENT? Labs are only required for specific treatments: High-Dose Vitamin C infusions and IM Vitamin D3 injections. All patients complete a brief medical consultation with one of our licensed providers once per calendar year. This review ensures that IV hydration therapy is safe and appropriate for you based on your health history and current medications. A $30 consultation fee applies. Your annual consultation clears you for IV hydration therapy, vitamin injections, and oxygen therapy for the entire calendar year.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED? Everyone responds to NAD+ differently. Many people start with a single session to see how they feel, and then decide whether they’d like additional support. Your wellness goals, comfort level, and how you feel after your first infusion help guide what’s appropriate for you. Our licensed providers can help you determine the best plan for your needs.
CAN I COMBINE NAD+ WITH OTHER IV THERAPIES? You can receive other IV therapies during your visit, but NAD+ must run on its own and cannot infuse at the same time as any other treatment.
